Ceres Face Massive JDT Test

After a tough AFC Cup group stage, Ceres Negros FC look to finally go one step further in the knockout stages as they face Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta’zim tonight at the Larkin Stadium in Johor, Malaysia.

The Negros side fared well in the group stages with convincing wins at home over Tampines Rovers and Hanoi FC. Spanish forward Bienvenido Marañon made his mark for Ceres with seven goals to his name.

Ceres will be up against JDT which has been the biggest threat in the competition. JDT qualifed to the knockout stages as the best second placed team in Group F, just behind Global Cebu FC on points.

Ceres coach Risto Vidakovic has stuck to the same philosophy going into the match.

“Its a big challenge to play this game,” said Vidakovic. “I’m sure that my players will do everything to get a good result. My target for tomorrow is that my players give their one hundred percent.”

Skipper Manny Ott is also raring to face the fancied Malaysian side.

“We’re playing against a big club and that’s what we’re looking out for,” said Ott. “We are here to compete and are all excited to play a good game.”

Kick off is at 8:45 PM and the match will be shown live on Fox Sports 1. — CAL
