Magwe Test Await Global in Myanmar

The stakes can’t get any higher for Global Cebu FC in the AFC Cup as they face Burmese side Magwe today at the Youth Training Centre in Yangon, Myanmar.

Global are coming off a remarkable 3-2 win over Malaysian powerhouse Johor Darul Ta’zim to lead Group F with nine points.

A win over Magwe will put Global on the cusp of a spot to the Zonal semifinals as Johor face Boeung Ket Angkor in the other match.

Global opened their AFC Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over Magwe last February 21. Misagh Bahadoran scored the only goal of that match. However the skipper will miss the match due to a knee injury.

Defender Amani Aguinaldo is keen on Global’s chances against Magwe.

“We have to beat (Magwe) again,” said Aguinaldo. “It will be a tougher game since it’s an away game, but with the way we played (against JDT), I think we can challenge them.”

The match kicks off at 3:30 PM local time (5:00 PM Manila time) and will be shown LIVE on Fox Sports 2. — CAL
